John Alden House, Duxbury, MA - Circa 1910. John Alden, ship's cooper on the Mayflower, chose this spot overlooking the Bluefish River as a home for he and his wife Priscilla. The structure dates from between 1653 and 1700. His heirs never tested the real estate market and kept it in the family until donating it to the town. It's now a National Historic Landmark.
