Gloucester, MA - Annisquam Light Night Light
Annisquam Light shares its name with the small estuary that separates Gloucester from the mainland. It marks an important harbor of refuge on Cape Ann's rocky shores for the many fishing vessels that sail in and out of Gloucester.
It's located on a Wigwam point where local indians would gather in the summertime. In 1817 and the following year, the lighthouse keeper and several locals reported seeing a sea serpent which upon capture seemed to be something quite undeserving of the headlines it first garnered.
Annisquam Light is a much loved North Shore beacon that is best seen by water as the light and grounds are private property and not open to the public
